Study Methods

Each MBS qualification and course is offered in a specified delivery mode.  It is important to ensure that you are aware of this when you make your selection. See either the specific programme you are interested in, or contact your nearest campus for more assistance.

Distance learning / contact learning

Milpark Business School offers education via both contact learning (face to face, classroom based tuition) or via distance learning (students receive the learning material and are supported either through workshops, or through tutor contact made telephonically or via email).

Distance learning offers the student flexibility in that s/he is able to study after hours. This method of study is ideally suited for students who are already working.

Full-time / part-time study

Full-time study means that students attend classes on a daily basis during the day. Thus, for example, the full-time B Com students are not usually employed and, as they are either recent matriculants or school leavers, are able to attend classes daily on a full-time basis for the three years required to complete the degree.
Part-time students are usually employed and so generally tend to be able to complete fewer modules over a longer period of time. Most part-time students choose the distance learning programmes as these programmes give them more flexibility.

Student support

Whichever method or mode of study you choose, Milpark will support you in your efforts.

Distance learning students are provided with course materials designed to guide them through the concepts and skills to be acquired. In addition, we have an extensive Tutor Support network on hand. Should you experience difficulties with your studies, you may contact a tutor either by email (see home page for the e-mail address of our tutor support) and s/he will email or call you back.

Alternatively, speak to a staff member and s/he will refer you to the correct person for assistance.

Workshops

Additional support for distance learning students may also be available in the form of non-compulsory workshops. These are presented by experienced presenters either in your area, or you may travel to join a workshop offered elsewhere. Contact us to find out when / whether these are available.

The most important aspect of student support is, however, the student! Let us know when you need help and we will find a way to assist you. All students are challenged personally or academically at times. Be assured that we will do our best to assist you when you need it.
